Organisations that invest in the development of young professionals are investing in their future. Targeted guidance is crucial, especially during the early years of employment, to nurture talent, boost engagement and ensure that people not only start, but also stay.

The MindLabs development programme is designed for SMEs and companies that require additional support for their talent in terms of learning and development. It offers a contemporary approach to supporting early-career professionals (those with vocational/higher vocational/university education and 0–2 years of work experience) in their personal and professional development, in a practical setting.

What is this development programme?

It is not a traditional training course and does not feel like going back to school. It is a 1.5-year practical development programme in which young professionals work on their personal effectiveness and professional strengths in direct relation to their daily work.

The focus is on:

  • Personal leadership and self-insight.
  • Soft skills such as collaboration, communication and reflection.
  • Innovation and dealing with change.

Although the programme is often referred to as a traineeship, it is deliberately structured differently, offering flexibility and phases with room for conscious choices along the way.

How does the programme work?

The development process is divided into clear six-month phases.

Each phase consists of:

  • Six to eight meetings with a fixed group of participants.
  • A combination of peer review, coaching and practical learning interventions.
  • There are clear themes that match the phase that young professionals are in.
  • There is a concrete outcome per phase that is visible to both participants and the organisation.

This structure makes the process manageable for participants and organisations alike. It offers peace of mind and clarity while ensuring structural development.

What benefits do organisations enjoy?

  • Employees become independent and confident in their roles more quickly.
  • There is better collaboration and communication within teams.
  • Young professionals take on greater ownership and responsibility.
  • They can develop without lengthy or demanding training programmes.
  • Learning and development is implemented in a concrete way in the first years of employment.
  • We strive for greater engagement and better retention of young talent.
  • We offer a structured alternative to individual training courses or external training programmes.
  • Development that is directly linked to practice and organisational goals.

In all cases, development is visible and applicable, contributing to individual growth and organisational development while building a valuable regional network.

Who is this programme intended for?

  • Starting professionals with 0–2 years of work experience.
  • Those with MBO, HBO or WO qualifications.
  • They are employed by SMEs or larger organisations in the region.

It is suitable for young professionals who want to develop in their role without returning to a formal educational setting.

Practical information:

  • Time investment: Six to eight meetings per phase.
  • Start date: multiple intake dates per year.
  • Location: MindLabs, Tilburg
  • Places are limited per start date.
