The BeNeRL is an informal one-day workshop bringing together reinforcement learning researchers from the Belgium-Netherlands region. The program includes several invited regional speakers and a poster session to foster participant interaction. We especially invite PhD students to contribute a poster since it will likely get them in touch with other researchers with similar interests. The workshop is free of charge and includes food throughout the day.
The current Interreg VI programme period is now well into its second half, with more than 80 projects receiving support. But what have these projects achieved so far? And will there be another call for proposals, or are the rumours true that this will be a genuine capitalisation call? And what are the new focus areas within Interreg VII, which will start in 2028? During Dutch Design Week 2025, MindLabs will examine the relationship between humans and virtual humans in an exhibition titled 'This is (Not) a Person'. Through interactive experiences, visitors will discover how trust, empathy and connection can develop between humans and AI-driven digital beings. These virtual humans are realistic, responsive digital beings that are becoming increasingly prevalent in healthcare, education, and the media. While their rise offers new opportunities, it also raises questions about social value, responsibility, and risk management.
Artificial Intelligence has the potential to reshape the landscape of research and innovation; it brings not only opportunities but also profound challenges. These will be discussed in the 17th online DIGIREAL lunch meeting on Thursday, June 5.
