The event brought together representatives from the military, science, industry, government and civil society organisations for an open and substantive programme. The meeting was opened by Bert Stam and Roy Lindelauf.
This was followed by two impressive international keynotes. Arnel David provided insight into current applications of data and AI within NATO. Jack Shanahan reflected on his experiences with introducing data science and AI into the defence world. He described the cultural change that was necessary to collaborate with technology companies and entrepreneurs, and emphasised the importance of careful application: with humans as the final decision-makers and with a focus on responsible AI, an approach for which the Netherlands is internationally renowned.
