BRIX has been awarded €2.8 million in funding for the coming years. With this support, the BRIX consortium, of which MindLabs is a partner, will further develop the economic and societal potential of immersive technologies in the Netherlands.

Great news for BRIX: the consortium has been awarded €2.8 million in funding for the coming years. With this support, BRIX will further develop the economic and societal potential of immersive technologies (IX) in the Netherlands. MindLabs is one of the partners within the consortium.

From research to real-world experiences

BRIX connects seven locations and their IX facilities, creating an environment where new applications of immersive technology can be researched, developed, tested and experienced. Activities range from scientific research and prototype development to customised solutions by IX developers and IX experiences for a wider audience.

A key focus is training and education. Immersive technology can open up new ways to make learning and professional development more accessible and effective, support lifelong learning and help people prepare for a rapidly changing labour market.

Working together on immersive technology

The BRIX consortium brings together MindLabs, Enversed Studios, Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Tilburg University, Breda University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven University of Technology and H20 Event Location – Tech Hub – Rabo Esports Stadium.

BRIX is also part of a wider initiative. Together with four other regional IX Labs, it forms the national IX Labs NL network, with TNO acting as the national connector. By linking the expertise and facilities of the different labs, the initiative is creating a national infrastructure for immersive technology. This gives creators, companies, researchers and educational institutions access to facilities that can be highly specialised, costly or extensive.

National kick-off

During the national kick-off at AMAZE Amsterdam, the organisations involved came together to get to know each other better and look ahead to the next steps.

Many people have contributed to the preparation of this initiative over the past year. With the funding now secured, BRIX can move into its next phase. Thanks also go to the Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition (CIIIC), a programme funded by the Dutch National Growth Fund.
